"It went really well," said Childress at the finish line after driving the entire race. "At mile 235, we had the lead and we were the first Class 1 car on the road. We just missed one corner and I had to shut the car off to put it in reverse and back up a little bit and when we went to start it, the starter wouldn't work. We had to change a starter and that took about 30 minutes and then we were trying to make up time and I was in the dust of a bike and got a flat. I went to jack it up and the jack broke. Everything to fix everything was just bad today. Our team did great and my (navigator) did a great job."
The Porter-built SCORE Class 1 car powered by its Kroyer Racing Engines Chevrolet power plan finished the race in 10 hours, 33 minutes and 56 seconds, traversing one of the most grueling Baja 500 race courses in the race's 43-year history.
