Aboard the THR Motorsports No. 306 machine, Garrett Osteen, Clint Braun and Zack Dodson rode the Open Expert, on the 306 bike. With Zack starting the bike off, he passed it off on the 2nd lap to Clint, who then gave the bike off to Garrett on the 3rd lap. At this point in the morning the dust was sitting and making it difficult to see. However, Garrett pulled in for a first in the Open Expert class and a 4th place overall.
For the amateur class Scott Jacobson, Eric Caudillo, and Don Campbell ran the 255 bike. Due to their starting place in the off the line, they were racing through the valley with a layer of dust that looked like thick fog. In the end, once again #255 was on the podium in 1st place.
As the day progressed, race #3 was on the horizon. All of the race vehicles were lined up in staging area shortly after noon. The crowds quickly grew to see and hear the horsepower. After all of the Trick Trucks, 1500’s, 1000’s, 1200’s and 5000’s took off it was time for the 7200 trucks to go. Starting towards the back of the pack, was truck 7266. Driver Rob Sims and co-driver Joe Feeley were ready to take that first lap with a vengeance. Off the staring line, less than a mile in, they passed the first of their competition. About race mile 50, they needed to change a flat tire. After a quick 6 minute tire change, they were on the course again. At the main pit, they made a driver change and the truck was refueled and checked over. Mikey Childress and Garrett Osteen were the drivers of the second lap. At race mile marker 35 the upper, driver side, wishbone bolt broke. Garret was prepared for this and had a spare bolt for the repair. Once the repair was taken care of, they were off and racing. However, racing only lasted for another 35 miles before a rod flew through the engine side wall, leaving them in a cloud of smoke.
