Starting first off of the line was the 2x bike followed by JCR Honda, 1x team of Kendal Norman and Quinn Cody. Third off of the line was the 3x bike followed the KTM, 4x bike of Caselli and Ramirez. In the 5th starting position was the THR Motorsports 5x Kawasaki with Bobby Garrison riding. This would be Garrison’s first ride through the crazy whooped out section, while it was lined with brazen spectators flashing their cameras and standing center to his line. Once through race mile 30, the bike was handed off to Baja seasoned, veteran rider Shane Esposito who continued to charge ahead.
At race mile 108, a rider change with 4x Baja 1000 champ, Steve Hengeveld was planned. However, after high speeds across “El Diablo” dry lake, the tire was shredded and needed replacing. Once on the bike, Steve regained speed and headed south out of Morelia Junction, through Matomi Wash down to race mile 170, where he handed off the bike to Garrison. From the recap that was given by many riders, this section proved to be rocky and a challenge for even the best of the best. As Garrison barreled through Huatamote, hearing the KX450F’s exhaust echo off of the canyon walls, he knew his 2nd leg of the race was almost complete. At race mile 216, the bike was handed off to Esposito who would take the THR Motorsports Kawasaki into San Felipe for a well deserved 2nd place atop of the podium.
Next up amongst the SCORE races is the Baja 500, in June. Stay tuned for big things coming out of the THR Camp.
THR Motorsports would like to thank Kawasaki, Hoosier Precision Machining, Corona Motorsports, Chiron America, Precision Concepts, Dunlop, KLeN Laundry, GPR Stabilizers, O’Neal MX and all of the team who helped put together this race effort.
