Robby Bell enjoyed a clean sweep, winning all four races he entered at round four of the Big 6 AMA West Coast Grand Prix Series aboard his THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/Precision Concepts Kawasaki KX450F. The sole round of the eight-race series held outside of Southern California (though it almost qualifies, being in Primm, Nevada), it provides a unique set of challenges for both the rider and his mechanic.
The THR Motorsports crew combined forces with fellow General Tire teammate Rick D. Johnson to deliver his Trophy Truck to the podium in the Best In The Desert Mint 400 Pit Crew Challenge. The THR Motorsports Class 1500 machine followed suite with a fifth place in class finish and tenth overall for the legendary desert race. The team went the 400 mile distance in one of the most grueling races north of the border with an elapsed time of six hours, 45 minutes and 41 seconds in the Porter-built BITD Class 1500 car.
If he wasn’t at the front of the pack, David Pearson was darned close to it all day, with the THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/Precision Concepts Kawasaki KX450F-mounted star eventually finishing third at the Rabbit Creek 100 hosted by Dirt Inc. near Murphy, Idaho. That gave him his third podium finish through the first three rounds of the AMA Racing/Kenda National Hare & Hound Championship Series, positioning him a strong second in series points behind FMF KTM’s Kurt Caselli, 90-71, who’s been the only other racer more consistent.
The Mint 400 remains an epic saga in the hearts of desert racers and motorsports fans alike. For the rigors of last year's contest, THR Motorsports carved a stellar first place SNORE Class 1 finish and second overall by the hands of lead driver Mikey Childress. And for this year's contest, preparations are well underway to accomplish nothing less than victory the Best In The Desert effort on March 23rd.
Robby Bell got the AMA Big 6 West Coast Grand Prix Series off to a great start with one win and a pair of runner-up finishes on his THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/Precision Concepts Kawasaki KX450F supported by John Burr Cycles as the series kicked off in Taft, California, on February 4-5.
The Best In The Desert (BITD) Series kicked off at the “Parker 425″ over the weekend in Parker, Arizona and Team GT started the 2012 season off on the right foot. Following a 12th-place qualifying effort, Mikey Childress fought through a course that over time; became rougher and tougher to navigate.
THR Motorsports ace David Pearson kicked off the AMA Racing/Kenda National Hare & Hound Championship Series with a strong runner-up finish to defending series champ Kurt Caselli after a fast, dusty 45th Winter Classic hosted by the Desert Motorcycle Club in Lucerne Valley, California.
THR Motorsports powerhouse Robby Bell reeled in yet another epic victory in the inaugural Johnny Campbell Christmas Classic Grand Prix last weekend aboard the mighty Precision Concepts-prepped Kawasaki KX450F. Bell racked up wins in the heralded unclassified race as well as the 450cc expert class.
For the second-consecutive race of the Best In The Desert season, THR Motorsports fielded its Kawasaki-backed KX450F to gain the glory of overall victory in two-wheeled desert racing. Team icons Shane Esposito and Robby Bell joined forces December 3, to pilot the N5 Open Pro motorcycle in the 250-mile season finale in two hours, nine minutes and 20.226 seconds.
THR Motorsports / Bonanza Plumbing / Kawasaki / Monster Energy / Precision Concepts Team Overcomes Challenges For Strong Baja 1000 Finish THR Motorsports / Bonanza Plumbing team rider and past Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 winner Robby Bell started ninth off the line on the Precision Concepts-prepped Kawasaki KX450F and was physically third on course after the first 90 miles of technical terrain.
Taking command of the lead early in the desert off-road endurance race, the THR Motorsports Open Pro Motorcycle team of Shane Esposito and Chris Brown broke away from the competition and carved their way northward to Reno to capture the overall 2011 Best In The Desert (BITD) Vegas To Reno victory for the/ Kawasaki USA / Corona Motorsports-backed effort.
With hundreds upon hundreds of hours of detailed race prep and testing to reflect upon, the flagship THR Motorsports effort is loading up to carry the banner for General Tire and its fleet of dedicated sponsors. Also joining the BITD Class 1500 effort will be the pro two-wheel effort, consisting of champion motorcycle racer Shane Esposito and Chris Brown, who will take up upon the THR Motorsports Kawasaki machines.
After a fighting its way through the rigors of the notorious 2011 Baja 500 desert off-road race, the thrust delivered from the Kroyer Racing Engine arrives fresh from its overhaul and awaits an install into its chosen machine as the THR Motorsports entourage prepares for yet another grueling fight, the 2011 Best In The Desert Vegas To Reno.
Beyond the hot red paint and deeper than the decals that honor the tremendous contributions that each one of our beloved sponsors deliver to the THR Motorspors team, there are the nuts and bolts of the operation. Each one of them and the various components of the Porter Class 1 car require a careful inspection and an experienced hand to comb over every detail immediately following each race. Prepping for the next race, such as the Best In The Desert Vegas To Reno, is a daunting task of details.
The aroma of hot baked churros and bacon-wrapped hot dogs swirl through the tightly woven throng of the world's most fervent off-road race fans. As the sun rises and the early morning fog lifts from the Pacific Ocean rises up over the mountain tops that cradle the cultured city, the excitement of the Baja 500 builds, working its way toward a magnificent crescendo. The scent of race gas ignites a frenzy. An engine and then another and yet others erupt.
What's it like racing the famed Baja 500? Sit shotgun with the world's greatest racers, traversing the mystic of vicious terrain at incredible speeds. Explode through lung-choking silt beds and rocket over the Ojos Negros skyline with thousands of race fans screaming with excitement.
Starting fifth in class, the THR Motorsports Class 1 machine piloted by Mikey Childress ignited the horsepower with a display of skill that earned the lead by race mile midway into the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500. But a series of seemingly minor mechanical woes wreaked havoc on what appeared might be a victory march to the Ensenada finish line in the 43rd running of the endurance desert off-road race. By the end of the day and after a stellar performance, the THR Motorsports team finished fifth in class and 14th overall.
