- Challenge: Machined finish on PEEK is too smooth. Our customer needed to rough the surface to help with coating adhesion.
- Solution: Microblasting units are generally used to help deburr parts, especially in applications where a razor may introduce small cut marks and can weaken the finished part. We took this knowledge and expanded it further by experimenting with Microblast settings, media, and nozzles to find the most effective way of applying a controlled and consistent surface. Once the study was complete, the spec was added to the prints so the process would be consistently repeated and certified with each shipment.
